Nestera Houses are made from recycled plastics making them environmentally friendly, and their price point is pretty budget friendly too.
A Little Bit of Thought
Nestera have carefully designed their housing to suit both you and your hens. Access to the nesting box is quick and easy – by removing two quick release pins, you’ll be collecting those eggs in an instant. By removing a couple more quick release pins gives you access to your hens via the full width back section.
Cleaning is an important part of keeping your hens happy and healthy, and the design of Nestera Housing makes this a quick and easy task. The doors have been designed so that they avoid trapping dirt in the door slots. When the back section is removed, there is no ‘lip’ on the floor edge, this, and the fact that the roof removes in seconds, makes regular cleaning a breeze.
To keep your feathered friends cool there are fully adjustable circular vents which provide plenty of ventilation. Even though the sides are made from black plastic, the house remains surprisingly cool, even in strong, direct summer sunlight.
Say Goodbye to Maintenance and Red Mite
Being plastic, Nestera houses require no maintenance and survive the Scottish winters without issue. The use of plastic also reduces the number of crevices in the hen houses, which means fewer places for pesky pests (such as red mite) to hide in. The houses can be thoroughly cleaned with ease – in seconds if you have a pressure washer! AND it will dry out very quickly. Carry handles are cut into the roof, making it easy to move if your hens need a new view on the world.
How Many Hens?
There are a range of options available for your new hen house – from 2 hens to 10 hens, once you’ve started hen keeping and you’ve collected your first fresh eggs you’ll be hooked. Trust me, your hen house can never be too big! Raise the Roof
The lodges are raised off the ground which gives room underneath for shelter from both the sun and the rain…. ideal when you’re in Scotland and can experience 4 seasons all in one day!
The space underneath the house gives enough room for most birds and they will naturally scrape out a dust bath here.
Moving Home
If you’re moving home the hen houses can be dismantled and rebuilt in your new garden, and this process won’t damage your hen house. The hen houses can be set up on grass or rough ground, or you might prefer to have a permanent place in your garden and use chunky wood chippings.

All in One Simple Package
The Eglu hen houses are incredibly well thought out so you don’t have to worry about a thing. It comes complete with roosting bars and a discreet nesting box which can be filled with shavings. Your daily egg collecting task is simplicity in itself with access via the easy access back door,just sliding out the nest tray. Letting your chickens out in the morning and shutting them up at night is done by using the handle on the top of the Eglu. Sound easy? You’d be right – it is!
If you’re hen keeping for the very first time we can supply you with our hen starter kit which not only includes the Eglu Go or Eglu Go UP but also all the essentials for feeding your hens and keeping them happy and healthy.
Quick & Easy Maintenance
Keeping hens in traditional wooden housing can be a messy job. With straw on the floor mixed with hen droppings, feed and water it can get pretty unpleasant pretty quickly. Bring on the Eglu! Its slide out tray collects all the droppings and you can dispense these straight into your composter to make fantastic fertilizer for the rest of your garden. It has smooth plastic surfaces that can be hosed down and wiped dry in minutes, with no awkward corners or absorbent materials, and unlike wooden houses there’s no need to treat your Eglu which saves you time and money in the future.
Keeping Your Hens Cool & Cosy
The twin walled insulation and draught free ventilation keep your hens warm during the winter and cool during the summer. The run also has a large, detachable shade that shelters your hens from the wind, sun and rain – an essential item for hens in Scotland when we can often have 4 seasons in one day!
Keeping Mr Fox Out
The run is made from strong steel weld mesh and has a anti-tunnel skirt that sits flat on the ground preventing animals digging their way into the run. The run can also be extended in 1m sections if you want to give your hens more room.
Grub & Glug
These are the unique food and water containers that come with your Eglu housing. They are easy to fill from outside the Eglu and keep the feed clean and dry, while avoiding spillage. These hold enough food and water for at least 2 days so you can leave your hens to look after themselves if you’re going away for a weekend.
Moving Home

If you’re new to hen keeping, it can be a little bit daunting in those early days…. but we love that! We have packaged our housing with the essential accessories that you’ll need to get you on the first rung of the chicken ladder; couple that with our support, you’ll soon be wondering why you ever had anything to be concerned about.
Endless Options
We have devised 3 kits to suit the beginner hen keeper – we find its a great way to start and keeps it to the simple but necessary equipment. But remember that the options are endless… almost too many to list! If there are items in the kit that you don’t want, just tell us and we can remove them and reduce the cost accordingly. If there are optional extras that you might like, we can add them in for you at whatever the cost of the item is. NESTERA STARTER KIT - £495
Nestera Small Chicken Lodge. Suitable for up to 3 hens. Easily moved / re-sited. This coop is raised off the ground which offers you hens shade and shelter.
Access to inspect the birds can be gained via a full width back door which detaches using quick release pins. When the door is removed, there is no ‘lip’ on the floor edge. This, and the fact that the roof removes in seconds as well, makes regular cleaning a breeze. Access to the nesting box is quick and easy – just remove two quick release pins and lift off the lid. The entire nest box can be completely removed for cleaning by undoing more quick release pins.
The house is made primarily from 9mm thick recycled polyethylene (the roofs and nest box lids are made from 6mm). It is delivered flat-packed and can be quickly assembled in around 1 hour.

The Eglu Go hen house comes complete with everything you need to get started. It has plastic roosting bars and a discreet nesting area which can be filled with bedding to make a comfortable nest for your chickens. The freshly laid eggs can be plucked from the nest simply by opening the door at the back.

The Eglu Go UP has all the benefits of the Eglu Go, but at a convenient, raised height. Your hens will love roosting up off the ground and laying in the private nest area, while you will appreciate not having to bend down to collect eggs or clean the coop, making chicken keeping even more of a delight!
The Eglu Go UP is designed for zero maintenance. Unlike wooden housing, you will never need to paint or re-roof your Eglu – saving you time and money.
