LIVING & LOVING THE GOOD LIFE

About Us

If you want to join us in living the good life, we have everything you need! And you get the benefit of our knowledge and support along the way.

AboutUsChickens

A bit about us….

We live on a 3 acre site, South Dron Smallholding, just outside Dairsie village which is halfway between Cupar and St.Andrews. I have always loved keeping hens and I have an abundance of enthusiasm to help others enjoy this rewarding hobby as well.

Hens Made Easy has been up and running for the last 12 years, and I’ve lost count of the number of customers we’ve helped with their hen keeping desires.   We have gained so much knowledge and experience from meeting people and helping them get the most out of their productive pets, it’s only fair that we share all this with you 🙂   If you’re new to hen keeping, we can help you avoid the pitfalls and get you eating your fresh eggs in no time.  Anyone for an omlette??

Back Field

Our Flocks – Welcome to our Hen Haven

Our one acre back field is our own happy hen haven.  With the choice of luxury accommodation and all that green space, how could any hen fail to be happy here??  And with this many hens we are never short of eggs…. or dung!  Our veg plots are very well fertilised for free 😉

We use this area for our own flocks, for boarding your hens when you take yourself off on your holidays, and also as our showroom for hen housing.   When you come to visit you will see the various options available for modern hen houses.  We can supply you with either Eglu or Green Frog housing…. why buy online when you can buy local.

So, yes, you could buy your housing direct from the supplier for the same price…. but you get so much more when you buy it from us 🙂 Why would you go anywhere else?

Hen Breeds

As there are lots of different ways to cook eggs, it seems only right that there are lots of different hens that produce this versatile food. There are lots of breeds to choose from but availability does vary throughout the year:

Hybrid Hens at point of lay are available all year round
Fancy Fowls are sourced in Spring/Summer
Our Homehatched Purebreeds follow the traditional breeding season, with reliably sexed hens available from late summer/early autumn

Check out our Facebook page for the latest information, or contact us regarding stock and availability.

To avoid bullying, it is best to choose your hens from the same group e.g., all Hybrids or all Homehatched Purebreeds etc. The groups are shown below and there is always a good choice of colours/types within each group.
